Our Programs: Skills, Creativity, and Independence
At OSD, our programs blend hands-on skill-building with creativity and personal growth, helping learners prepare for employment, independence, and community life. From craft-based workshops like pottery, carpentry, sewing, and mosaics to life skills coaching, drama and music, and well-being support, every pathway is designed to strengthen confidence and capability. Learning is active, practical, and tailored—so each learner can progress at their own pace while building real-world skills and self-belief. Through training, mentorship, and external job coaching opportunities, OSD turns potential into purpose and supports learners on a clear path toward participation and opportunity
Accessory Making
Accessory Making blends creativity with real product development, giving learners the chance to design, assemble, and refine items with attention to detail and quality. The workshop strengthens fine-motor coordination and problem-solving while helping learners practice consistency, responsibility, and follow-through—skills that matter in both work and daily life. As learners progress, they can prepare items for exhibitions and public events, reinforcing a powerful message: people with disabilities are makers, contributors, and professionals.

Aquaponic Gardening
Aquaponic Gardening teaches sustainable agriculture through daily practice—caring for plants and fish, maintaining systems, and learning routines that build discipline and independence. Because learners see direct results from consistent care, the program naturally reinforces responsibility, teamwork, and real-world problem solving. This service also strengthens community impact, with expansion efforts supporting both self-sufficiency and meaningful hands-on learning that connects skills to life.

Carpentry
Carpentry builds practical, hands-on trade skills while strengthening teamwork, problem-solving, and responsibility through structured making and safe tool use. Learners practice measurement, design, and step-by-step construction—moving from guided tasks to more independent project work as confidence grows. Through initiatives like student-built furniture projects, the workshop supports OSD’s goal of turning vocational learning into real readiness for work and independent life.

Cognitively Based Compassion Training (CBCT®)
CBCT® supports learners in building compassion, emotional awareness, and stronger relationships—skills that improve classroom dynamics, teamwork, and community participation. Because OSD prioritizes inclusive, supportive learning environments, compassion-based practice strengthens belonging while reinforcing respectful collaboration. This service aligns with OSD’s broader approach of supporting the whole person—socially, emotionally, and practically—so growth is sustainable.

Cooking Classes
Cooking Class develops functional independence by teaching learners how to follow steps, work safely, and collaborate in a kitchen environment. The experience strengthens teamwork, routine, and communication—key skills that support employability, especially when paired with job coaching and workplace readiness. Workshops that use ingredients grown through aquaponics also connect learning across services, showing learners how skills link together in real life.

Drama & Music
Drama and music play a powerful role in building self-confidence and fostering self-expression. Through creative activities such as acting, singing, and playing instruments, students are encouraged to explore their emotions, develop their communication skills, and gain the courage to share their talents with others.

Drawing & Visual Arts
Drawing & Visual Arts gives learners space to develop creative skills while strengthening observation, decision-making, and confidence in self-expression. Because learners communicate in different ways, visual art becomes a powerful tool for emotional expression and identity-building—especially within inclusive, student-centered learning environments. Artwork can also become a bridge to community visibility through exhibitions and public showcases that highlight ability, not limitation.

Fashion Design
Fashion Design turns self-expression into a structured skill pathway—supporting learners to explore design concepts, create pieces, and participate in collaborative fashion experiences. The program develops creativity alongside real-world habits like meeting briefs, following steps, and working toward a finished result. Fashion also plays a public role at OSD—using runway moments and collaborations to increase visibility and challenge stereotypes around disability and ability.

Glass up-cycling
Glass up-cycling connects creativity with sustainability, teaching learners how to transform discarded materials into purposeful, beautiful products. The process supports attention to detail, safe handling, and quality awareness—key habits that transfer into employment and responsible daily living. By turning “waste” into value, the program reinforces a deeper message at the heart of OSD: when the right support exists, potential becomes possibility.

Life Knowledge
Life Knowledge supports everyday independence through practical learning such as hygiene, safety in public/work/home settings, time management, communication, and basic financial literacy. Because OSD’s mission is centered on self-dependence and integration, these lessons help learners function confidently beyond the center—not just inside it. Life knowledge also strengthens employability by building consistency, readiness, and the ability to navigate routines and expectations.
